From the Gulf Coast of the United States to the Bay of Inchon, off the coast of the Republic of Korea, TRYMER® polyisocyanurate pipe insulation has been a proven performer in liquified natural gas (LNG) applications.
At its boiling point of -260°F (-162°C), natural gas liquifies and compresses to 1/600 of its volume, making efficient storage and economic transport possible. Maintaining precise temperature control of LNG pipes, tanks and vessels is critical, so an insulation material that is both thermally efficient and moisture-resistant, like TRYMER pipe insulation, is specified. At cryogenic temperatures, a low-perm vapor retarder, like SARANTM CX Vapor Retarder Film and Tape, is a vital component of the pipe insulation system to prevent water from entering the system, where it can cause icing and system failure. TRYMER and SARAN products are engineered to stand up to the harsh conditions typical of LNG installations: rough handling during transport, outdoor storage, high wind speeds and relative humidity reaching 90 percent.
TRYMER insulation products are produced in densities from 1.6 pcf to 6.0 pcf (26 kg/m3 to 96 kg/m3) and compressive strengths from 19 psi to 140 psi (138 kPa to 970 kPa).
